<description>[...] New Zealand Look Through Companies are easy to establish, only requiring a few more simple steps than registering a New Zealand Limited-Liability Company. Once a New Zealand Company is established, all of the shareholders need to agree to become an LTC, and complete the LTC status election form, submitting it to the Inland Revenue Department (IRD). The processing time is currently approximately 3 to 6 weeks, at the end of which the company will receive a letter confirming its LTC status. A newly formed company can also elect to be an LTC, by submitting the same LTC form before the due date for its first tax return. Already existing companies which are classified as non-active companies may also opt to hold an LTC status, but must first complete a company re-activation form. While the process is relatively straightforward, it is still recommended that you discuss your plans with a professional accounting and taxation consultant in New Zealand, in order to ensure the smoothest possible results.
